TRIATHLON SWIM PROGRAMMES.

If you have entered a Triathlon this season, of any distance, then SwimWod has the perfect swimming programme for you, to not only help you build up your endurance to be able to tackle the swim, but it will also help you with your technique and skills, to be more efficient, and feel not only confident going into the water, but KNOWING that you are going to smash it. Designed to take you right up to race day with a taper to enable you to feel fresh and ready to go.

Suitable for those attempting their first Triathlon, as well as more experienced athletes who are looking to improve on their Swim time.

Programmes include the following:

  • Open Water racing skills such as starts, breathing, sighting, etc

  • Open Water Swimming technique drills and skills with videos such as THIS ONE to guide you.

  • Aerobic Capacity development

  • Stroke efficiency

  • Strength building within your stroke

  • Pacing skills including individual race pace specific to you and your goals

  • Speed work

  • Results tracking and scoring

  • Benchmark tests to see your improvement

Kit you will need:

  • Pull Buoy

  • Kick Board

  • Goggles

  • Hat (even if you don't have hair you will be required to wear one during the event itself so may as well get used to wearing one)

Kit you may benefit from:

  • Fins (shorties, not flippers)

  • Hand Paddles

Session distances: Starts at 1.5km and peaks at 4.5km per session

Programme length: 20 weeks

Sessions per week: 3

Programme structure: 6 week Base, 6 week Build, 6.5 week Peak, 1.5 week Taper.

Programme length: 16 weeks
